What is the Fastest Roller Coaster in the World?

Formula Rossa rollercoaster

Formula Rossa at Ferrari World is the world’s fastest roller coaster, and it’s held the title ever since it first debuted in 2010! With a top speed of 149.1 mph and the ability to clear 52 vertical meters in just 4.9 seconds, it’s an incredible testament to the nameplate’s reputation for limitless capability and superior engineering. Although Abu Dhabi is a long way from Chicagoland, we hope that you get the chance to experience this one-of-a-kind theme park for yourself!

What is Ferrari World?

If you’re the type of person who seeks out all of the top roller coasters that you need to ride, then you won’t be able to resist the temptation to tour Abu Dhabi’s Ferrari World theme park. It’s beloved by roller coaster enthusiasts the world over—not only for Formula Rosso, but also for the park’s other rides!

In 2015 and 2016, Ferrari World was named as the Middle East’s Leading Tourist Attraction. In 2017 in 2018, it was selected as the Middle East’s Leading Theme Park.

Ferrari World’s Top Roller Coasters & Attractions

  • As the fastest roller coaster in the world, Formula Rossa is the undeniable lead attraction. It features a hydraulic launch system that produces 1.7 g-force and a 1.4-mile track; passengers will experience up to 4.8 g over the course of the ride.
  • The Fiorano GT Challenge also debuted at the park’s opening in 2010. Unlike Formula Rossa, the Fiorano GT Challenge features a dual-track setup that allows one set of passengers to race the other along the route.
  • Flying Aces, a third coaster that debuted in 2016, has its own claim to fame. It features the world’s tallest non-inverting loop.

Visitors to Ferrari World will also get to experience the park’s tire changing challenge, zipline, roofwalk, and Scuderia Racing Challenge—an interactive motion simulator that feels as close to driving a Ferrari as any simulation can get!
