The Ferrari F12tdf is the face of luxury and performance for the Prancing Horse brand. Ferrari revealed this lightweight, track-focused version of the F12berlinetta in October 2015. This is a perfectly balanced composition of vehicle dynamics, acceleration, and style. The Ferrari F12tdf is unlike any other performance vehicle, blending innovative engineering with a design reminiscent of the Ferrari models that reigned over the Tour De France Race during the 1950s and 1960s. The fact that only 799 of these models were produced makes it extremely difficult to find a Ferrari F12tdf for sale.

Ferrari F12tdf Engine and Performance Details

The new Ferrari F12tdf is fitted with the F12berlinetta’s award-winning naturally aspirated 6.3L V12 engine. The tdf features a maximum output of 769 hp @ 8,500 rpm and 519 lb-ft of torque @ 6,250, giving it the ability to reach a stunning top speed of 211 mph. At Ferrari’s Fiorano test circuit, the F12tdf lapped in 1 minute 21 seconds — that is 2 seconds faster than the standard F12berlinetta and 488 GTB, and just 1.3 seconds behind the fastest lap set by the infamous LaFerrari!

Ferrari F12tdf Exterior Design

The Ferrari Styling Center designed the F12tdf with the goal of merging the sophisticated sculptured body of the F12berlinetta with the graphic interpretation of the tdf’s new aerodynamic performance features. A radical redesign of the bodywork, interior, engine, transmission and running gear, along with the use of carbon-fiber inside and out, has decreased the car’s overall weight and increased downforce for enhanced performance.

These modifications also affect handling. Due to the size of the tires used by the Ferrari F12tdf, the natural tendency is to oversteer; however, with the innovation of the Virtual Short Wheelbase, stability at high speeds can be achieved. The rear axle is active, allowing the rear wheels to pivot around a vertical axis.

There are also numerous aerodynamic enhancements on display. The aerobridge on the front flank has been redesigned to increase airflow, while the louvres on the wheel arch remove air from the inner wheel arch, increasing the efficiency of the underbody in generating downforce. Three pairs of GT-racing-derived strakes have been added to the car’s aerodynamic underbody, and are responsible for 30% of the increase in downforce compared to the F12berlinetta. The rear diffuser has been completely redesigned and split into three channels.

Braking is by Brembo with third-generation carbon-ceramic brakes, six-piston front and four-piston rear, and monobloc aluminum calipers. Outstanding stopping distances are guaranteed by the adoption of this new Extreme Design one-piece brake calipers, which are also featured on the LaFerrari.

Ferrari F12tdf Interior

The Ferrari F12tdf’s sportiness is expressed by its Spartan cockpit, which places an emphasis on enhancing performance via decreased weight. The wraparound effect that embraces the driving position is intensified by the use of carbon-fiber housings for the instruments and satellite pods. The door panels have been pared back to a single carbon-fiber shell, while the interior cabin trim features Alcantara rather than then traditional leather. The seats are wrapped in technical fabric and there is patterned aluminum on the floor instead of mats. Everything works together inside and out to decrease overall weight.
