The LaFerrari Aperta is a unique open-air supercar equipped with both a mid-rear, naturally-aspirated V12 engine, as well as an efficient 120kW electric motor for an outstanding powerful hybrid build. Created in celebration of the Ferrari 70th Anniversary, the exclusive limited edition model is the brand’s very first hybrid supercar. The Aperta can boast the title of being the most powerful Ferrari vehicle built for the road, while still achieving optimal efficiency. Deriving its name from the Italian word for “open,” the Aperta was designed to perfectly blend power, precision, and performance while maximizing efficiency.

LaFerrari Aperta Performance Details

The most powerful Ferrari vehicle built for the road, the LaFerrari was designed to save fuel while still creating incredible power. With its unique hybrid power unit (the HY-KERS system), the Aperta is the most high-performance, efficient Ferrari ever built.

The open-air version of the LaFerarri roars to life with a signature soundtrack from its unique mid-rear, naturally-aspirated V12 engine, which has been paired up with a powerful and efficient 120kW electric motor. Between the V12 and the electric motor, the LaFerrari Aperta is able to produce an outstanding maximum power output of 963 cv (949.44 horsepower) and 900 nm (663.8 lb-ft) of torque. These impressive specs allow it to reach high speeds quickly, with a top speed of 218 mph.

The intensive development work targeted the car’s chassis and aerodynamics by producing a roadster that delivers the same performance, torsional rigidity, beam stiffness and drag coefficient characteristics as the coupe. The Aperta features a 7-speed clutch transmission, rear-wheel drive and front double-wishbone and rear multi-link suspension, putting the driver in control. Brembo brakes integrate with the energy recovery system, and the specifically designed lighter calipers guarantee perfect heat dissipation from the new carbon-ceramic discs.

LaFerrari Aperta Exterior Design

Taking many of its styling from the original LaFerrari coupe, the LaFerrari Aperta still boasts its own unique look, featuring the main characteristics of the coupe with its own futuristic spin. It is an extreme car that seamlessly marries form and function, retaining clear links to classic Ferrari styling cues.

Unlike the LaFerrari coupe, the Aperta features an open-top design to add a new and exhilarating element to the drive. During the design process, significant advances were achieved to prevent unnecessary drag. Thanks to air traps above the parcel compartment, air travels easily over the LaFerrari Aperta, rather than getting swept into the cabin. The high-speed airflow that would enter the cabin from the top of the windshield is instead captured by an angled wind-stop attached to the parcel shelf that channels air over the top of the vehicle.

There are two other primary difference when comparing the open-top Aperta to the LaFerrari coupe:

  • The open-top design of the Aperta comes with a removable carbon-fiber hard top and a removable soft top.
  • The Aperta also offers a different door-rotation system from the coupe: when fully opened, the Aperta’s doors stand at a slightly different angle.

Limited Edition

As a limited-edition, special series model, just a few of these impressive LaFerrari Aperta models were built and made available to buyers, giving it a level of exclusivity rarely seen in the automotive industry. In total, only 210 units of the unique limited edition series have been produced. With 200 LaFerrari Aperta models already sold to customers, 9 models were reserved for the Ferrari 70th Anniversary celebrations and 1 model was auctioned for charity. The auctioned vehicle secured 10 million dollars to assist Save the Children, an international youth education charity.
